IABMAS

IABMAS was founded in October 1999. It encompasses all aspects of bridge maintenance, safety and management. Specifically, it deals with bridge repair and rehabilitation issues; bridge management systems; needs of bridge owners, financial planning, whole life costing and investment for the future; bridge related safety, risk, resilience, sustainability, and life-cycle issues and economic and other implications. To better coordinate its activities, IABMAS encourages the formation of national groups. At present, there are thirteen national groups: Portugal, China, Italy, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Chile, Turkey, Korea, Sri Lanka, the USA, Spain, and Canada. Sri Lanka, the Pearl in the Indian Ocean, formed its national group in 2019 to promote research and development in bridge maintenance, safety, and management, emphasizing the current and future needs of the country.

This Special Session organized by the International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety (IABMAS) Sri Lanka Group will be held at the Earl’s Regency Hotel, Kandy, Sri Lanka.
